The Long Gun, or "Queen Elizabeth's Pocket Pistol " will be found on the right when entering Dover Castle from the Canons Gate.

This is believed to have been presented to Queen Elizabeth by the States of Holland, and was made by James Tolkys, at Utrecht, in 1544. It is 24 feet long, and was regarded as capable of projecting a twelve-pound ball for seven miles. The inscription on the gun has been translated :

" O'er hill and dale, I'll throw my ball,
Breaker my name of mound and wall."

The iron stand upon which the gun is placed was cast from metal of guns brought from Waterloo.
