This pub was formerly the "Rose" and the "Three Horse Shoes" it's first licensee was John Newing 1841. Who was succeeded by Mr. Gilfin his son took over until world war 2. Richard Husk was landlord during the war years and continued until 1950, Alfred Treadwell then served about twenty years, when Ray Smith took over as licensee. This property once stood by the weir crossing the river
Dour, it stood in it's own grounds with stables and orchards. |
